The body cavity search revealed
That we were concealing guidebooks
Scribed by our elders
That our loins were homing devices
Tracking the distance we have traveled
From our starseed
The prognosis from the MRI
Informed authorities that we were
Elaborate illusions of soft matter
Men in white robes poked and prodded us
Took stool samples and CAT scans
In a paranoid search for a cure to
Their own impermanence
They read charts x-rays sonograms
That offered them contradictory results
They did not consider closing their own eyes
And listening to the polyrhythms of their own
Aorta channeling rain into blood
Their meticulous research taught them only
That one can receive grants and appear important
Without knowing anything at all
Body Cavity Search
